During the first two weeks in May, selected students from Punxsutawney Area High School art classes represented their school at the 15th annual Youth Arts Celebration. The celebration included music, written and dramatic performances, and visual art displays from all over Indiana County. PAHS’s visual arts program was well represented, with one of the students — Kyle Poling — winning the first-place Award of Excellence for his three-dimensional ceramic work. The winning work is a large coil altered form decorated with layered glazes in shades of green and black. Poling is a senior in the Creative Clay 2 class.
