With her recent win in Johnstown, Aviana Gillaugh is going the distance and is on her way to nationals in Lubbock, Texas, Dec. 3-10. She said going to nationals has been a dream of hers since she started boxing, and now Aviana and her coach and father, Gregg Gillaugh, are focused on sharpening up her skills and keeping her in fighting shape in preparation for the challenges ahead.

After her victory this weekend at the Battle at the Castle at Castle Boxing in Johnstown, she will get her shot as she is heading to Lubbock, Texas, in December for nationals.
Her road to nationals made a decisive stop in Johnstown over the weekend, where she faced off against Mira Bailey.
Gillaugh said she was nervous at first because it was the first fight she had in a while, but once she climbed in the ring, she found her groove.
“It was my first fight in a couple months, so it was pretty nerve wracking, getting back in the ring and getting the rhythm of it. When I first got in the ring, my nerves and anxiety were really high, but once I started fighting, after about a minute into the first round, I realized I was fine and I relaxed.”
