Local 4-H rider heading to state horse show

Local rider Calista Reitz represented Jefferson County in the 4-H district horse show this past weekend and earned a spot at the state show in Harrisburg in October. Her horse, Luke, was off for two months with a injury, and the duo won first place in the first two classes Luke had a clean bill of health to run in. It’s been a long road to recovery, knowing the summer’s long preparation may have been forfeited, but Luke managed to put it all together for his people. Reitz slowly rehabbed him back from an injury, refusing to push him an inch until he was completely healthy, trusting her partner enough to make it against the top local competitors in her division with essentially no practice, and giving up two of her classes to make sure he wouldn’t be re-injured.
