Threat against Mapleview Elementary not found to be credible

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A threat against Mapleview Elementary School was determined to be unfounded, according to a brief release issued by Principal Shari Weber, Assistant Principal Emily Cassidy and head teacher Shelly Janocha late Sunday.
The release said the Punxsutawney Area School District discovered that Mapleview had received an "indirect threat to the building" over the weekend. The Pennsylvania State Police investigated the threat and determined that it was not credible. As a precaution, the state police will be present at the school during student arrival today.
The release said student and staff safety is always the school district's top priority.
Anyone with concerns is asked to contact Weber, the district elementary principal.
