PSP: Man, woman set fire that destroyed 2 Mahaffey homes


Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police have charged two individuals with arson related to a fire that broke out at 2:16 a.m. Nov. 19, 2016, on West Main Street in Mahaffey.

Raymond C. Geer, 29, Mahaffey, and Catherine A. Burnheimer, 33, Northern Cambria, have been charged with arson endangering persons, causing or risking catastrophe, arson endangering property, criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.

The fire in November 2016 resulted in the house where it was set and the neighboring house burning to the ground.

Geer and Burnheimer were arraigned before District Judge James L. Hawkins and remanded to the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of posting $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Clearfield County Central Court.
