Postseason underway, PAHS putting up results!

Staff Writer

When the PAHS fall sports season kicks off, three sports — girls’ tennis, girls’ golf and boys’ golf — fire out of the gates first to get a head start on the pending weather at the end of the season. That also means that those sports are the first to begin postseason play, and the past few days have shown those squads turning in some successful results. On Monday, the girls’ golf team made the most of its home-field advantage, playing at the Punxsutawney Country Club, to earn the District IX AA team championship. Morgan VanLeer’s overall score of 90 also resulted in a District IX AA individual championship, as she was the tournament’s low medalist. Meanwhile, up in DuBois, Kaitlin Doverspike and Kaitlyn Ray participated in the District IX AA singles championships for girls’ tennis. Ray swept her way through three matches to advance to Tuesday's finals, which will be held at DuBois. This past weekend, in St. Marys, Punxsy boys’ golfer Lucas Ambler participated at the individual championships for District IX’s AA classification, and he fired a 90 to earn a top-five spot and advance to the West Regional, to be held at Tom’s Run Golf Resort next Monday.
