Australian Rotary members take part in Friendship Exchange

Nine Rotary members from Australia recently spent three days in Punxsutawney as part of the “Friendship Exchange” program. While here, the team members were guests in Rotarian homes and shared time touring and eating local favorite foods. One of the hosted events was a family picnic at Gobbler’s Knob, where 60 persons turned out. The Australians also gave a 30-minute presentation about their “Land Down Under” at the weekly Rotary luncheon. The picture shows team members after being given a tour of Gobbler’s Knob and a personal appearance by Punxsutawney Phil and several Inner Circle members. All nine were named ambassadors and provided certificates and top hats to commemorate the event. In all, the Australians will spend 15 days in various locations throughout northwest Pennsylvania. Through Rotary Friendship Exchange, Punxsutawney will send two Rotary members as part of an 11-member team to Australia in November for more than two weeks to learn all about that country and their food/customs.
