Arthur Frederick Dobson, Jr., 66

Arthur Frederick Dobson, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, suddenly, following an accident on a biking trip with friends in Croatia, Slovinia and Italy at age 66.

He experienced no pain and died doing what he loved: riding his bike in an extremely beautiful part of the world, surrounded by friends.

Born in North Plainfield, N.J., Art was a loving husband and the greatest dad in the world.

He awaited the birth of his first granddaughter with as much joy as a heart could hold.

He was a beloved brother, uncle and friend to many.

Art touched countless lives as a baseball coach, volunteer, and official scorer of the Sacred Heart varsity basketball team.

He was a devoted parishioner at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Harris Hill.

A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame (1969), he spent many, sometimes frustrating, fall Saturdays on the "world's most beautiful campus" cheering on the Irish.

He loved to travel and often shocked his companions with his iron stomach and inclination toward exotic foods.

When at home in Clarence, N.Y., he was found in his famous vegetable garden, making pizzas, losing bets on the golf course, and cycling and skiing with his friends.

Though the title is disputed, he claimed to be the Dobson family
Scrabble champion.

Art was a 1972 graduate of the University of Buffalo Law School and spent over 40 years in private law practice, most recently at Michalak
and Dobson in Williamsville.

He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 43 years, Nancy (Roberts); his daughter, Allison Dobson; his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Stephanie Dobson; his brothers, Tom Dobson (Sharon Dobson) and David Dobson (Anna Cowles), 16 nieces and nephews; close family in Punxsutawney; and so very many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur F. Dobson Sr. and Angelia Jannuzzi Dobson.

Art loved being with his family and friends, and inspired everyone around him to laugh and be the best they could be.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Amherst Chapel of Amigone Funeral Home, Inc., 5200 Sheridan Dr. (corner of Hopkins Road), Amherst, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Harris Hill Road, Clarence, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart Gymnasium project.
