Junior Varsity Chucks rally for season-ending victory over Bison

May 20, 2013

CLEARFIELD — In an unusual scenario to end the season, the Punxsy junior varsity baseball squad found itself in a considerable deficit Friday.

Trailing 7-3, the JV Chucks showcased the stellar offense they have shown all season for what would be a game-deciding five-run sixth inning, before holding the Bison scoreless in the final two frames for an 8-7 season finale victory.

“What a great game; back-and-forth lead changes,” pointed out Punxsy JV head coach Rodney Thompson.

Lady Tigers capitalize in fourth inning to spoil Lady Chucks 'Senior Day'

PUNXSUTAWNEY — In an afternoon which felt more like late October than mid May, the Punxsy softball team saw one of its two toughest innings of the season on Monday.

Trailing 3-2, the visiting Lady Tigers of Hollidaysburg capitalized on three Punxsy errors and added some hard hits at the plate to score 10 times to spoil "Senior Day" by a 14-4 final score.

"We lengthened it (the inning) for them. They hit the ball hard as well," noted Lady Chucks' head coach Alan Pifer. "They capitalized on everything."
