(Editor’s note: This piece is one in a series of “Familiar Faces Friday” features to be written by Spirit reporter Destiny Pifer. The point of the project will be to highlight a member of the community who may be recognizable to many and tell his or her story. Today’s familiar face is Mindy Grose.)

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Mindy Grose is a familiar face. You may recognize her as the director of the Pine Street Senior Center, or perhaps you have seen her throughout the community.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Grose is a graduate of Craig Senior High School.
At age 15, Grose got her first job at a nursing home, where she continued working for 20 years.
At age 35, she decided it was time for a new start, so she moved to Florida, where she began waitressing. And Grose said that it was while waitressing that she met her future husband.
“Every Saturday, I would wait on a guy who, as it turned out, was from Punxsutawney,” she said, adding that when she learned he was from the home of Punxsy Phil, she was ecstatic.
“Groundhog Day is my favorite holiday,” she said.
