PUNXSUTAWNEY - House Speaker Sam Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana/Armstrong) issued the following statement relative to the incident that occurred Thursday in Brockway resulting in the wounding of Trooper Bradley Wilson.
While serving a warrant, Trooper Wilson was severely injured. A standoff followed and the suspect, Kenneth Lee Sr., was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His son, Kenneth Lee Jr., is currently in custody, and the investigation into the incident continues.
“Yesterday, Pennsylvania State Trooper Bradley Wilson, a 24-year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois Barracks, was injured in a standoff in Brockway. Trooper Wilson remains in critical condition in Pittsburgh," Smith said. "I would ask everyone to pray for Trooper Wilson and his family, including his brother who also serves in the Pennsylvania State Police.
“A big thank-you to all of the first responders who responded to this incident in a timely manner, especially Trooper Wilson’s fellow troopers who pulled him to safety and got him seen immediately by medical staff. We are very fortunate to have the finest men and women serving in our local police departments and state police, as well as the dedicated volunteers that give their time in fire, ambulance, and county emergency services.
“I have no doubt the residents of Brockway will come together in the face of the tragedy, as they have in the past, and do what they need to heal from this horrific tragedy.”
