The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) stopped by Punxsutawney on Thursday as part of its DCED on the Road initiative.
Clyde "Champ" Holman (right), the deputy secretary for community affairs and development at DCED, visited a number of locations across the state — including, in Jefferson County, Punxsy and Brookville — to meet with constituents and tour finished projects in which DCED had a hand and to hear about projects that are being considered for the future.
At the ATA Transit Facility in Punxsy, Holman got to meet Punxsutawney Phil, pictured with co-handler John Griffiths.
Holman was made an honorary member of the Groundhog Club and received a bag of Punxsy Phil memorabilia, including a copy of his most recent prognostication.
In Brookville, Historic Brookville, Inc. took Holman on a tour of the future site of the planned town square, as well as the Marlin Opera House.
