Helen G. Brickell, 92, of Smithport, Pa., died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
The daughter of George Ray and Lillian (Williams) Brickell, she was born on Feb. 3, 1921, in Banks Twp., Indiana County.
Helen was a lifelong member of the Wilgus Wesleyan Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer.
For 30 years, she was employed as a seamstress at Sportswear in Punxsu-
tawney, prior to her retirement in 1984.
Helen enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, as well as canning the produce from her gardens. She had great joy and interest in keeping her home well-kept.
One of the greatest delights of Helen’s life was the enjoyment she derived from spending time with her nephew, niece, great-nephews and great-nieces.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth A. Charles of Smithport, Pa.; her niece, Kimberly Charles Knox and husband Robert of Punxsutawney; her nephew, William R. Charles and wife Amanda (Mumau) of Marion Center; and great-nephews and nieces Matthew Knox and Sophia, Tyler and Ethan Charles.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Ruby L. Brickell; and brother-in-law, William Charles, Jr.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa.
Friends will also be received from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Wilgus Wesleyan Methodist Church in Wilgus, Pa., where a 2 p.m. funeral service will be held, with the Rev. Robert Teasdale officiating.
Interment will follow at the Brickell Cemetery in Banks Twp., Indiana Co., Pa.
