The driver of this Chevrolet Silverado, George Hamilton of Shelocta, was not injured in this one-vehicle rollover accident that occurred at 5:36 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 119 and Route 210 in North Mahoning Township.
According to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, Hamilton said he was traveling east on Route 210 and saw some deer, which caused him to drive through the stop sign at the intersection of Route 210 and Route 119 and roll his vehicle onto its side on the north side berm of Route 119.
Police were assisted at the scene by Jefferson County EMS, Rebuck's South Side Service, Perry Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Lindsey Fire Company.
In another accident that occurred at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, police reported that Anthony J. Westover, 23, Rossiter, was traveling south on Route 119 near School Road in Bell Township when he reportedly fell asleep, causing his 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 to cross the northbound lane and exit the road off of the east berm, ultimately impacting and sheering off a utility pole.
Police said Westover suffered moderate injuries but refused treatment at the scene, while his passenger, Savannah M. Rugh, 22, Punxsutawney, was not injured.
The Dodge sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Police said Westover will face summary traffic violations in District Court.
The Big Run Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS, PennDOT and the Elk Run Volunteer Fire Co. assisted at the scene.
