BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Area school board discussed at its meeting last Monday the possibility of allowing the football field to be used for a planned alumni football game between the Punxsutawney Chucks and the Brookville Raiders.
The board ultimately did not take any action on this proposal, apart from advising Mick Stormer, the evening’s spokesperson for and captain of the Brookville alumni football team, to resubmit the facility use form so that the board could review it at a later date, in a special meeting if need be.
The Brookville alumni football team previously went head to head with Punxsutawney on the latter’s home turf last year, on Nov. 5, 2011. The alumni Chucks won the contest 14-6.
Stormer came to the board hoping to schedule a rematch for Dec. 1, this time on the Raiders’ home field.
He said he hoped to have it at the Brookville football field for two reasons: firstly, there is an opportunity for profits from the game that go to the host team; and secondly, he believes the location could bring about an increased turnout.
There was no official, final decision made with regard to Stormer’s request on the behalf of the alumni players and Alumni Football U.S.A.
