PUNXSUTAWNEY — After putting together two solid Saturday contests, Punxsy could not make it three in a row on the girls' soccer field. Brookville netted the first goal in the opening five minutes and never looked back on its way to blanking the home team 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Punxsutawney.
"We came out too flat against a very aggressive Brookville squad," said Lady Chucks head coach Kevin Hughes.
The Lady Raiders aggressive play led to them finding the back of the net just 4:11 into the affair.
The visitors found the scoring column for the second time almost exactly nine minutes later when a boot from the left side was redirected behind the Punxsy goalie and into the right side of the net.
Brookville added what turned out to be a very good goal at the 26:14 mark. On a corner from the right side of the Punxsy goal, the Lady Raiders put the ball in play five yards to the side where the visiting player hit a solid cross to the front of the net and was put in the net right away for what would be the 3-0 final.
"We looked better in the second half but it was too little too late," quipped Hughes.
The Lady Chucks were held to only two shots on goal in 80 minutes of action.
Punxsy will travel north to St. Marys for a 4 p.m. match on Thursday.
