Alexander Simon Dubensky, 81, of DeLancey died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1930, in DeLancey, a son of the late Michael L. and Mary (Quashnock) Dubensky.
He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Church in Punxsutawney.
April 18, 1959, he married the former Mary Ellen Zelman, who preceded him in death Aug. 10, 1993.
Mr. Dubensky was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country during the Korean conflict.
He worked as a machinist for Star Iron Works for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed tinkering around and fixing things, and dining out.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Marie Elkin and husband John and Deborah Dubensky, all of DeLancey; a son, Steven Dubensky and wife Melissa of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Theresa Manners, Sydney and Devon Dubensky; three great- grandchildren, Ty and Isaac Knarr, and Alexander Phillips; a brother, David Dubensky and wife Sandra of Punxsutawney; three sisters, Vern Koromaus of DeLancey, Barbara Roseman and husband Joseph of Sykesville, and Nancy Agnello and husband Richard of Anita.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Kendra; and a brother, Edward “Ubby” Dubensky.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.
A Parastas service will be held at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Church, officiated by Fr. Simeon Sibenick.
Interment will follow at the Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
