John Paul Felix, 88, DuBois, died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Oct 22, 1922, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Peter and Anastasia (Kristoick) Felix.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in the European Theater.
Mr. Felix worked for Consolidated Natural Gas Company for 26 years, until his retirement in 1984. Prior to that, he worked in the Kramer Mines and for Rockwell International Manufacturing.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher. He was a member of the DuBois Chapter of the Blue Army and was well known for making rosaries and distributing them to the missions, as well as many other places.
He enjoyed watching sports, and he especially loved to watch his family play sports.
Surviving relatives include four sisters, Regina Bauer of Emporium, Anastasia Shilala and husband Dom of DuBois, Bernadette “Bunny” Felix of DuBois and Mary Jo Ulishney of DuBois; three brothers, Edward Felix and wife Mary of Stump Creek, Theodore Felix and wife Janet of Falls Creek and and Regis Felix and his wife Donna of DuBois; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Kuritz; and a brother, Patrick Felix.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
A scriptural wake service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, from the funeral home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded from the church.
Interment will follow at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Cemetery in Sykesville.
