John V. Taladay, 75, Rockville, Md., passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011.
He was born in Punxsutawney and graduated from Penn State University. He moved to Baltimore in the 1950s and later moved to Rockville, where he lived for more than 40 years.
Mr. Taladay spent several years working for the railroad, and worked with some of the first computers in existence. He also worked for the Vitro Corporation for 30 years where he met his wife, Joann, and many wonderful friends.
During his time at Vitro, he obtained his CPA certification, which later led to a position with the government, where he worked as an auditor from the mid-90s until 2010.
Mr. Taladay was an avid reader and traveler, and visited dozens of countries around the world. He enjoyed football, and his family attended UMD home football games for more than 25 years. He was also an active member of the St. Raphael parish in Rockville, Md.
One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three daughters, Victoria Eastridge, Suzette Mitchell and Stacy Taladay; two sisters, Joan Eiser and Barbara Quinlisk; a brother, Jerome Taladay; a son-in-law, Tony Eastridge; a future-son-in-law, Kevin Anderson; four grandchildren, Michelle Zibrat, Shawn Zibrat, Emily Eastridge and Ryan Eastridge; and countless friends.
He was preceded by a sister, Frances Cassidy.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Pumphrey Funeral Home, Rockville, Md.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Rockville, followed by a burial at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Md.
