Velma Olovett Bowser, 95, of Big Run, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at home with her loving family.
Velma was born on June 18, 1917, in Ernest, a daughter of the late Alfred and Sarah (Morgan) Schierer.
On April 27, 1946, she married Glenn Clark Bowser.
She made her own wedding gown from a parachute from World War II. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1963.
Velma was a member of the Big Run Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Bowser was the Big Run 2011 Citizen of Year.

Glenna L. (Keefer) Smith, 76, of McKean, Pa., and formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Mary’s Home at Asbury Ridge.
She was born May 27, 1936, in Clarion, a daughter of the late R. Kenneth and Alice (Steffy) Keefer.
Glenna was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, crossword puzzles and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald R. Smith.

Shannon L. Page, 33, Columbus, Ohio, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.
She was born April 20, 1980, a daughter of Mark and Cindy (Reitz) Page, who both survive.
She was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bowling Green University with a
bachelor’s of science in biology.
She was involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization, she loved to read and she was an avid football fan and member of the Stamping Club.
She loved movies, her family and friends and her dog, Hershey.
She worked for the Ohio Department of Health as an epidemiologist.

James D. Postlewaite, 69, Erie, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at UPMC Hamot.
He was born March 31, 1944, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late James Blair and Joanna Margaret (Anthony) Postlewaite.
Jim was retired from General Electric Co., for which he worked 42-and-a-half years.
Most of his years there were spent in the Power House.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his grandson, who got his first buck in 2011.
He enjoyed restoring, displaying and pulling antique tractors, especially his two-cylinder John Deeres.

Valgene E. “Val” Frye, 71, of Chicora, Pa., entered his heavenly home on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Val was born at home in Rochester Mills, Pa., to the late Blair G. and Edna (Leasure) Frye, on June 24, 1941.
Mr. Frye graduated from Marion Center High School with the Class of 1959.
He went on to graduate from Butler County Community College with an A.A. Degree in business management in 1982.
Val married the love of his life, Carolyn A. (Hosack) Frye, on April 28, 1962, in Lickingville, Pa.

Lloyd E. Fisher, 73, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Mr. Fisher was born Nov. 11, 1939, a son of the late Lloyd E. Fisher Sr. and Rose (Lorenzo) Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. (Sheesley) Fisher, of Hamilton.
They were married Feb. 22, 1964.
Mr. Fisher was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two tours in Vietnam, two tours in Germany and three years in Panama before retiring as a Sgt. 1st Class after 20 years and receiving the Purple Heart.

Ruth L. Parise, 91, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Parise was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Homer City, a daughter of the late Lester Love and Edna (Dickey) Love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Parise, Sr.
They were married July 12, 1947.
Mrs. Parise was a member of the First Church of God, where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Women of the Church of God, choir member and Missionary Officer for many years.

Dolores "Dolly" S. Davis, 82, of Big Run, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Cloe, a daughter of the late Rowland I. and Blanche (Baun) Smith.
On Oct. 8, 1949, she married Richard Davis. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1965.
Dolly previously worked as a bartender at the Punxsutawney Moose Club and at Little Canada.
She later worked as a clerk at JC Penney.

Melvin Leroy Hoffman, 91, Coolspring, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
He was born April 15, 1921, in Coolspring, a son of Lee Hoffman and Icie Hinderliter Hoffman.
In 1992, he married Ruth Elizabeth Jones, who survives.
Mr. Hoffman worked as a coal miner for R&P Coal Co.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 14th Infantry, 71st Division, during World War II.

Nancy Lee (Tuck) Chandler, 66, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, Pa.
She was born on May 4, 1947, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Hardy) Weiss.
She married Richard D. Tuck in November of 1963. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2010.
She married James Chandler on Sept. 29, 2012. He survives.
She was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary in Bellefonte, Pa., and in Punxsutawney.
She was also a member of the Undine Fire Company of Bellefonte.
