PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Punxsy girls' soccer team played its fourth game in five days, and after winning three of its last four, the Lady Chucks were knocked off by Clearfield Wednesday afternoon, 4-0.

"The girls actually played really well. We had some chances on net," Punxsy head coach Tom Robicheau said. "We made Clearfield work for every shot, and that's all I can ask from the girls.

"It was the style that we were playing," he said. "We're playing more trying to get over their defense."

Punxsy (3-7) allowed two goals in the first half to trail 2-0 at halftime before giving up the final two goals in the last 10 minutes of the game.

"My seniors have been playing good, but my younger players are starting to catch up to the speed that the game is played at," Robicheau said. "I'm starting to see these girls come together."

Freshman goalkeeper Timi Shiock played all 80 minutes in goal, as Hannah Fugate - who was the goalie at the start of the season - is playing well on defense.

"I thought Timi played excellent in the goal tonight," Robicheau said. "She's still a little raw, but she's coming into her own. She made a couple nice stops, one-on-one."

After an 0-5 start, the Lady Chucks have gone 3-2, and Robicheau feels that his girls are starting to turn the corner on the season.

"They're starting to come around," he said. "I think the girls have a chance of winning a lot more games."

The Lady Chucks will have nearly a week off, as their next game is at 4 p.m. Tuesday against DuBois at Jack LaMarca Memorial Stadium in Punxsutawney.
