PUNXSUTAWNEY — A Glen Campbell woman had to be extricated from her vehicle by firefighters following a crash that occurred at 5:15 p.m. Friday on Church Road, Canoe Township.

According to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Raye A. Fry, 41, Glen Campbell, was traveling south on Church Road when she lost control on the snow and ice covered road, which caused the vehicle to turn counter- clockwise.

Police reported that Fry’s vehicle slid across the northbound lane onto a ditch located east of Church Road and rolled onto its passenger side. Police said that Fry had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters, and both lanes of Church Road were closed for more than a half-hour in order to remove her from the vehicle.

Police added that a passenger Nicole L. Hockenberry, 26, Glen Campbell, wore a seat belt and was not injured in the crash, while Fry did not use her seat belt and suffered minor injuries. She was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

Police were assisted at the scene by Rossiter and Central Fire Departments, and Fry’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Rebuck’s Towing.
