Winifred McKee Leach, 92

Winifred McKee Leach, 92, of Volant, formerly of Grove City and Big Run, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 6:12 a.m. at Grove City Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Jefferson County on April 16, 1920, Winifred was the daughter of H. Ray Colkitt and Mary Laura Stewart Colkitt.

On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Robert Allen McKee, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1961. On Feb. 20, 1988, she married Russell W. Leach, who also preceded her in death on July 31, 2000.

Winifred retired in 1985 from the First Seneca Bank (now PNC) in Grove City, where she had worked since 1961.

She was a member of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church in Plain Grove, Pa.
Winifred was a graduate of Big Run High School’s Class of 1938. In 1988, she moved back to Big Run, where she lived through 2010.

During that time, she was a member of the Big Run Presbyterian Church, where she served as treasurer in the church.

She was a proud lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post No. 9044, Big Run.

Winifred is survived by three children, Carol Gargasz and husband Raymond of Volant, Pa., Jean Rongaus and husband Edward of Mercer, Pa., and Robert J. McKee and wife Linda of DuBois; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one brother, James Colkitt of Kennesaw, Ga.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Hildred Gourley, Joan Kerr and Eleanor Anderson; and a brother, Ray Colkitt.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, Pa., with the Rev. F. Stanley Keehlwetter, interim pastor of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on April 6, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will take place at Crestview Memorial Park, Inc. in Grove City.
