William Paul Smochek, 88

William Paul Smochek, 88, DuBois, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at home.
He was born July 16, 1923, in Mahaffey, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Mrozek) Smocek.

He was married to Lois Pearl (Bell) Smochek, who survives.

Mr. Smochek was a famer and miner, and he worked in the construction business, retiring from PennDOT.

He was Catholic by faith.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Sandra Roseman and husband Gary of Mahaffey; a step-son William Bell and wife Chris of Mahaffey; a brother, Raymond Smochek and wife Ann of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William E. Smochek; three brothers, Frank Smochek, Chester Smochek and Edward Smochek; and seven sisters, Jennie Boras, Anna Beyer, Agnes Jackson, Frances Fahnestock, Daisy Kiczensky, Sophia Wasik and Amy Bentley.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
