William E. Pounds, 90, Punxsutawney, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Kent, a son of the late Ray Engle and Helen M. (Berquist) Pounds.
July 5, 1988, he married Magdalene E. Lucas, who survives.
He was a U.S. Army Tech 4 from 1942 to 1945, and he worked as a truck driver for Cook Moving Systems Inc. of Buffalo, N.Y.
Mr. Pounds was a member of the Rossiter American Legion and the Teamster Union of Buffalo.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Gerri Barrett and husband Ron; a stepson, Jeff Kuss and wife Kathy; grandchildren Ronald Barrett and wife Tena, Charles Barrett and companion Heather Lingenfelt, Diana L. Smith and Rocky Stanford; two step-grandchildren, Jeffery Kuss and wife Cassandra and Justin Kuss and wife Brittany; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Pounds of Montana, and Theodore Pounds and Thomas Pounds, both of Punxsutawney; and a sister, Carolyn Lettie of Punxsutawney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralston Pounds; and two sisters, Kathryn Hohman and Geraldine Wishinsky.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, with the Rev. Mark Lutcher officiating.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Covode.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Hospice of Punxsutawney or the Indiana Regional Cancer Center.
