William A. Barilar, 61

William A. Barilar, 61, Anita, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at home.

He was born Feb. 2, 1952, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late William and Matilda K. (Painter) Barilar.

On June 4, 1977, he married Debbie G. Smelko, who survives.

He was a loving husband and father.

He attended St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Anita.

He worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Arcadia Industrial.

He enjoyed running, riding bicycles, cars and music (especially The Beatles).

He was a sound man for many local bands, a long-distance runner and an Eagle Scout.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Eric Barilar and fiancée Trista of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Sandra Snizaski and Judy Pifer; an aunt, Jean Cholewa; nieces Donna Spicher and Jill Pifer; and nephews Donald Snizaski, and Mike and Chris Pifer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Barilar; and a brother, Jack Barilar.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be at Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Mr. Barilar’s memory, to St. Joseph’s Church or to the American Cancer Society.
