William “Bill” Becker, 94

William “Bill” Becker, 94, Snyder Road, Brookville, Rose Township, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Brookville Hospital, peacefully, surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Brookville, a son of John Becker and Theresia M. (Kasparek) Becker.

He was married to Bertha A. (Snyder) Becker for one year, before she preceded him in death July 30, 1945.

Feb. 28 1947, in Oakland, Maryland, he married Althea B. (Snyder) Becker, who survives, and they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

William briefly served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.

For 42 years, he was employed at Pittsburgh Shawmut Railroad as storekeeper in the supply house.

He was a member of Roseville Church of Christ.

William enjoyed bowling, trains, watching baseball, puzzles, birds, his two puppies and many years of Special Sunday Dinners.

He was a kind and loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Barry E. Becker and wife Cynthia of Summerville and Randon L. Becker of Sigel; one daughter, Brenda S. Alexander and husband Michael of Brookville; one sister, Helen A. (Becker) Chimera of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Brent E. Becker and companion Kelly Harris, Michelle L. (Becker) Steele and husband Gary, Melissa J. Becker and husband Ed Bowman, Haylee S. (Becker) Black and husband Michael, Erika D. (Alexander) Kammerdeiner and husband Brian, Tina C. (Alexander) Walton and husband Josh, Garry W. Becker, Jr. and Shawn A. Becker; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Garry W. Becker, Sr.; five brothers, Otto A. Becker, Charles E. “Charlie” Becker, Joseph J. “Joe” Becker, John Becker and Harry T. Becker; and four sisters, Anna E “Annie” Myer, Louise L. Raybuck, Mary Theresa “Tootie” Becker and Lillian R “Lil” Gross Aaron.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Roseville Church of Christ in Roseville, with Minister John Kerr officiating.

Interment will be at Roseville Bethel Cemetery in Roseville.
