PUNXSUTAWNEY — On top of Punxsy's team accolades with both the baseball and softball teams earning the Northern Allegany League Large School divisional championships, six Punxsy players were named to the Large School Division All-Stars — with three coming from PAHS's baseball team and three from the softball team.

One player in particular — junior Ty Zimmerman — was even named the division's Player of the Year. St. Marys' Rachel Ginther was named the softball Player of the Year.

As player of the year, Zimmerman — who was Punxsy's most consistent hitter this season, hitting .444 with six doubles, a triple and three home runs — was also the All-Star representative at his normal position of shortstop.

Fellow juniors Garrett Zimmerman and Jamie Bush were also named All-Stars at their respective positions — first base for Bush and outfield for Zimmerman.

Bush was also a steady pitcher for Punxsy throughout the season, throwing 44 innings with a 3.50 earned run average.

Zimmerman was Punxsy's cleanup hitter and really came on at the end of the season, finishing the year with a .333 batting average and driving in 23 runs.

In the softball realm, Punxsy's twin senior duo of Johnna and Randa Depp made up two-thirds of the Lady Chucks' three representatives, and they were joined by junior shortstop Chelsea Engeholm — who was given the nod as an outfielder.

Johnna Depp was Punxsy's workhorse pitcher, pairing with junior Ashley Bacha but pitching the majority of Punxsy's innings with 44 and bringing home a 1.90 ERA.

When she was pitching, Depp's battery mate was her sister, Johnna, who was also a threat for Punxsy out of the leadoff hole in the lineup.

Johnna hit .328 for Punxsy, and despite being the leadoff hitter, she also led the team with 15 RBIs and a pair of home runs.

Engeholm, the Lady Chucks' only junior representative on this year's All-Stars, led the team with a .450 batting average and also led the team in runs scored with 20, hits with 27 and doubles with nine.

The rest of the Northern Allegany League Large School All-Stars are as follows, by team:

• Baseball, DuBois: Derek Heckathorne (catcher); Devon Walker (second base); Brandon Tyger (pitcher).

• Baseball, Brookville: Nathan Bonfardine (third base); Seth Connor (utility player); Zane Hackett (pitcher); Nathan St. Laurent (outfield).

• Softball, St. Marys: Raelyn Cunningham (first base); Kalie Quagliani (second base); Erica Sorg (shortstop); Cassie Wonderling (designated hitter); Ginther (pitcher, Player of the Year); Mia Keener (outfield).

• Softball, DuBois: Cheyene McKee (third base); Sierra McKee (outfield).
