The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center received a donation of $2,500 from the Pennsylvania American Water Company (PAWC) last week.

Josephine Posti, of PAWC, said this was one of 20 Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) grants the water company was handing out to qualifying businesses and organizations, allowing them to offset some of their tax obligations to benefit educational organizations in the Commonwealth.

Rep. Sam Smith (far right), speaker of the House of Representatives, said that the Weather Center qualifies as an educational improvement organization.

He said it provides educational support services for children. Pictured are (from left): Marlene Lellock, Weather Center board member; Mary Jean Johnston, project manager at the Weather Center; Posti; and Smith.
