Annual Visitation
The annual visitation of the officers of the Grand Chapter to the Brookville lodge took place last Friday. A number of gentlemen from Philadelphia and other distant points, exclusive of the grand officers, were present.

After the visitation ceremonies were over and the conferring of the Royal Arch degree on J.A. Minish, Esq., of this place, by the grand officers, a magnificent banquet was held at the Commercial Hotel. About one hundred guests were present, and the supper was worthy of the occasion.

There was musical, elocutionary and oratorical talent present in profusion, and the event will long be remembered by the Brookville chapter as one of the brightest pages in its history.

A Refractory Cow
D.W. Robinson's cow took a cranky spell last Thursday, and rushing upon Mrs. Robinson, bore her to the ground, running its horn against her face, and otherwise bruising her.

Fortunately Mr. Robinson was present and saved her from serious injury, but in the scuffle which ensued he also received a bump which caused his hand to swell up so that it resembled an old fashioned pin cushion.

Counterfeiters Captured
A large gang of counterfeiters were captured by United States detectives near Coalport last week. They were surprised and caught in the act. Nearly two thousand dollars in spurious coin was found in the possession of a man named Daniel Gorman.

Three complete sets of dies and several plates for note engraving were found in their possession. The names of the parties arrested are Edmunson, Gorman, Myers, Estep and Lord.

They were all heavily ironed and taken to the Eastern penitentiary to await trial in
the United States Circuit Court. The raid is to be continued, as it is believed there are two more gangs somewhere in this vicinity.
