Wanda Boyer, 91

Wanda Boyer, 91, of Reynoldsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at home.

She was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Summerville, a daughter of the late Lee and Dessa (Vandervort) McDonald.

She was the wife of Merle Willard Boyer. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1984.

Mrs. Boyer previously worked as a sales clerk for Gimball’s in Pittsburgh.

Wanda was a former member of the Quilt Club in Punxsutawney.

Her enjoyments were quilting and sewing.

Surviving relatives include two children, Harry M. Boyer, and Cheryl D. Blair, both of Reynoldsville; five grandchildren, Joshua Grant Boyer of San Francisco, Christine Gigliotti of Punxsutawney, Melissa Young of Anita, Michael Rogowski of Scranton, and Robert Blair of Anita; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Theodore Lee Boyer; and a brother, Joseph Simpson. Son-in-law Robert B. “Rocky” Blair, passed away the following day, Oct. 4, 2012.

She and her son-in-law “Rocky” will share visitation time, and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Steven J. Hendrickson.

Interment will follow at Vandervort Cemetery, Summerville.
