Walter R. “Pete” Weaver, 94, Brookville, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at McKinley Health Center, Brookville.

He was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Brookville, a son of the late Raleigh J. and Edna (Vandervort) Weaver.

Oct. 6, 1944, in Brookville, he married Margaret L. “Peg” Crawford, who survives.

Mr. Weaver was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater and the U.S. Army Reserves in Pittsburgh for more than 20 years, retiring as a colonel.

He worked as a civil engineer and retired as the president of the Pittsburgh & Shawmut Railroad in 1980 after 40 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookville; a graduate of Penn State University, the University of Pittsburgh and Harvard University; a member of the Hobah Lodge No. 276 F&AM in Brookville and 32nd Degree Coudersport Consistory; the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona; and the Bucktail Council of the Boy Scouts of America in DuBois.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, William J. Weaver of Brookville and Mark E. Weaver of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a brother, James R. Weaver of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Alan Weaver; three sisters; and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, and interment will be in the Temple Cemetery, Warsaw Township.
