Voter registration deadline is Tuesday
BROOKVILLE — If you want to vote in the Nov. 8 general election, but you’re not currently registered, you have only until Tuesday to do so.
In order to vote in any election, you must first be a registered voter. If you’re not, you need to register by Tuesday, according to Karen Lupone, chief clerk for Jefferson County.
How do you know if you need to register?
Lupone said if you are a first-time voter, have recently moved to a different area or changed your name, you may need to register — or re-register — to vote.
The registration process is quick and easy, and there are a variety of ways you can do it.
To register, you must come to the Jefferson County voter registrar’s office on the second floor of Jefferson Place, Main Street, Brookville, to fill out a form required by the state.
The registration form is also available online at www.votespa.com along with other pertinent voter information.
Lupone said if you print the form off the Web site, you still must mail it to the county voter registrar’s office.
An absentee ballot may also be printed from the Web site, Lupone said, but it must be returned to the voter registrars office by Nov. 1.
Lupone said the fall’s general election has a large number of very important local races, including the race for Jefferson County Commission.
