Rodger G. Hein, 71, Punxsutawney, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at his home. He was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Carl and Clara (Mann) Hein.

May 8, 1965, he married Shirley (Bedilion) Hein, who survives. They were married 44 years.

Mr. Hein was a member of the Chestnut Grove Independent Church. He  was formerly employed at U.S. Steel and was the owner of the former Community Hardware in Punxsutawney.

He was an employee of Tractor Supply in Punxsutawney and Indiana and loved being around the people at the stores. He liked traveling, farming and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Keith Hein of Marion Center; a daughter, Barbara and husband James Johnston of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, David Smiley and his fiance Ginnie Overly, Michael and Craig Smiley, Lindsay and Alyssa Hein; and several cousins.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church with Pastor Darrrel Smith officiating.

Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.

Interment will be at Round Top Cemetery.
