BLAIRSVILLE — Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker said an early-morning house fire Friday claimed the life of a Blairsville man.
Marcus J. Crow, 38, of Burrell Township, was reportedly home alone when the fire broke out. Neighbors from across the road contacted the Indiana County 911 Center at 3:33 a.m. to report seeing fire and smoke coming from the residence.
Firefighters removed the body from the residence and paramedics from Citizens’ Ambulance Service transported Crow to the Indiana Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4:52 a.m. by an Emergency Department physician.
Baker said Crow sustained extensive burns and probable smoke inhalation in the blaze.
An autopsy was conducted Friday morning at the Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
The State Police Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.
Firefighters from multiple companies responded to the scene.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Crow are incomplete.
