FALLS CREEK — Police seized $85,000 in currency and drug packaging materials following a stop along Interstate 80 Wednesday. According to DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday along Interstate 80 at mile-maker 88 westbound, Washington Township.

Police said during a traffic stop on a 2001 Honda Accord, there were numerous indicators of criminal activity.

A canine search of the vehicle led troopers to find three hidden compartments in the vehicle, one containing $85,000 in U.S. currency, and the other two containing drug packaging materials, police said.

Police said the occupants of the vehicle — who were not named in a police report — said they knew nothing about the ownership of the money or the hidden compartments.

Police said the currency and vehicle were seized, and the occupants of the vehicle were released.

An investigation continues.
