REYNOLDSVILLE — A 23-year-old Sykesville woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash at Tuesday night. According to DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police, Kari A Young, 23, Sykesville, was a passenger in the vehicle and succumbed to her injuries prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. She was pronounced dead at the scene by coroner Bernard P. Snyder.

Police said the incident occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday along Point View Road, Winslow Township, about seven-tenths of a mile east of Gas Well Road.

Police said Emily C. Kerr, 21, Brookville, was traveling east along Point View Road at a high rate of speed when she drove off the right edge of the road and struck a large boulder with the right front of the vehicle, a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The vehicle then rolled multiple times, police said, partially down an embankment, and then struck a large tree, coming to a final rest on its roof on the embankment, facing south.

Police said Kerr was wearing a seatbelt and suffered injuries of unknown severity, while it was unknown
whether the passenger in the right front, Allison N. Knouse, 23, DuBois, was wearing a seatbelt, whether she was ejected from the vehicle, or got out on her own.

Police said Knouse was found by fire and EMS personnel sitting against a tree in a wooded area opposite a set of railroad tracks at the bottom of the embankment. Police said she suffered major injuries.

Young, who was sitting in the rear right of the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle onto the road.

Both Kerr and Knouse were flown via STAT MedEvac to UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.

The Reynoldsville Fire Department, Reynoldsville Borough Police and Reynoldsville Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Police said Kerr faces charges of driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
