PUNXSUTAWNEY -- Most children are scared of monsters, but a book written by PAHS senior Alex Krach is a children’s book about the monster that is in inside everyone.
“The name of the book is ‘Monsters on the Loose,’” he said. “It’s a play on words. There’s a monster in each one of us, but there’s no need to fear other people because of that. We each have unique traits.”
Using Lulu.com, Krach was able to self-publish his book, and each elementary school in the Punxsutawney Area School District is buying a copy. The high school and middle school will also purchase copies for their libraries.
Krach authored the book, while senior Markie Forrest worked as the illustrator for their senior project.
“Markie used colored pencils and crayons, and then we scanned them into the computer, and I reworked them in Photoshop,” Krach said.
Both seniors spent a year working on the project, and Krach said they hope to have the books ordered and in the schools by next month.
Why did they decide on this project?
“I really like writing, and I wanted to learn the ropes of publishing,” Krach said. “I hope I can help teach kids to follow their dreams and not give up on them.” |
