Vernon E. Neese, 60

Vernon E. Neese, 60, of Dora, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1953, in Princeton, Ind., a son of the late Walter and Mary (Alcorn) Neese.

On June 21, 1997, he married Karen L. (Bevac) Neese, who preceded him in death on March 2, 2005.

Vern is a 1971 graduate of Princeton Community High School in Princeton, Ind.

He relocated to Pennsylvania in 1979 and started working in the coal mines, where he continued to work for the past 34 years.

Vern was an avid fisherman, but most of all, he loved riding his Harley.

He loved his job working in the coal mines where the guys were like his second family. He is and was very loved, gone but not forgotten.

He is survived by two sons, Jeremy Neese and wife Stephanie and Jonathan Neese and wife Jessica; two daughters, Leah Means and Lacey Means; one sister, Jo Heichelbech; seven grandchildren, Corbyn Neese, JT Neese, Reya Neese, Kyler Neese, Hayden Witherite, Kodi Whitmore and Parker Reddinger; one sister-in-law, Nancy Neese; four nephews; three nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Neese.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.

Interment will follow at Ringgold United Methodist Cemetery.
