Vernie E. Stankovich, 85

Vernie E. Stankovich, 85, of Stump Creek, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013, after a lengthy illness at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Born May 11, 1927, in Cramer, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Susie (Krucelyak) Cherban. She married Edward Joseph Stankovich, who preceded her in death.

She had worked at Sylvania in Emporium and Rollo Jensen in Punxsutawney.

She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic
Church; were she was active with the “Kitchen Crew.”

She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Connie) Belin of Pottstown, Pa., and Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Klingensmith; a sister, Delores “Dolly” Kosko of Sykesville; and four grandchildren, Emily Belin of Douglassville, Andrew Belin of Arlington, Va., and Marcie and Michael Klingensmith of Punxsutawney.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Cherban, Jr. and Robert Cherban; and a sister, Justine Prosper.

Public visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at The Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville, with the Rev. Fr. Richard Allen officiating.

Interment will take place in the Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville.
