Verla June Beebe, 87

Verla June Beebe, 87, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at High Point Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Ringgold Township, Pa., a daughter of the late Clair and Meda (Shaffer) Martz.

Aug. 29, 1946, she married Howard Beebe.

Verla grew up on a farm in Punxsutawney and moved to Buffalo, N.Y.

She was employed at Curtiss Wright during World War II, and also as a nurse’s aide at Perrysburgh to be close to her future husband, Howard.

After raising her family, she worked at the Main St. Bristol Home as a cook.

She was an avid reader who loved to send cards and write letters, listen to the radio, take long walks, enjoy flowers and plants, collect jewelry and, above all, spend time with her family.

Surviving relatives include a sister, Catherine F. Martz; sisters-in-law Mrs. Glenn Martz (Marie Schmale), Mrs. Dean Martz (Margaret Michael) and Mrs. Gene Martz (Nell Van Cott).

Verna was a loving mother to Terry, Lorne, the late James, and Dennis Beebe; daughters-in-law Christine Whitman, Elaine Guenther, Amy Willis and Leigh Ann Stavinoha.

She was a doting grandmother to Jesse, Jamie, Jaret and Justin Beebe and Corinne (Beebe) Schuler.

Verna was a sister to the late Glenn, late Dean, late Gene (Abe) and late Mary Lou Martz.

Verna was an aunt to Sandra Rooney and Claire Martz, the late Kenneth (Dickie) Martz and Pamela Warner, the late Kathy Shaw, Karen Pollow, Kenneth and Kelly Banks, the late Keane Martz, and Kim Lango; great grand-nieces and nephews, Christopher Ryan Rooney, Justin and Cody Martz, Timothy Warner, Candice, Laura-Jean and John Mark Lango.

Cremation will be performed at the John E. Roberts Funeral Home Inc., Buffalo, N.Y.

Internment will be at St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Ringgold, Pa.

No services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
