Velma L. Cressley, 94

Velma L. Cressley, 94, of Juneau, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Cressley was born Nov. 13, 1918, in Juneau, a daughter of the late Merle White and Nora (Baun) White.

She was married to Ralph E. Cressley, who preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2004.

Velma was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Juneau.

She was employed by Rola-Jensen and Loree Footwear before retirement.

She was a special and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor who loved the Lord.

Velma was loved and respected by all for her love and devotion of her life to the caretaking of her son Gene, and all her family.

Velma is survived by three sons, Ronald E. "Gene" Cressley of Punxsutawney, Boyd E. Cressley and wife Nancy of Punxsutawney, and Fred Cressley and wife Pat of Rochester Mills; six daughters, Norma "Teck" Riddle and husband Clayton "Ham" of Rossiter, Carol "Cook" Michael (Bill Carney) of Punxsutawney, Lois Pearce and husband Joseph of Rossiter, Linda Farmery and husband Sherwin of Rochester Mills, Jackie Temchulla and husband Terry of Cloe and Pam Sprankle and husband Doug of Valier; a daughter-in-law, Clara Cressley of Punxsutawney; 25 grandchildren, Connie Callen, Budd Riddle, Sharon Carlson, Michelle Shugarts, Randy Cressley, Sandra Laney, Velma Cook, Kevin and Scott Cressley, Penny Clark, Kim Fugate, Valerie Powell, Matt, John and Michael Pearce, Chad Cressley, April Barrick, Mindy Cressley, Brett and Gregg Farmery, Josh, Garrett and Tessa Temchulla, and Brad and Eric Sprankle; 38 great-grandchildren Brook, Callen and Amanda Boozer, Luke Riddle, Bryce and Amber Carlson, Michael and Justin Cressley, Carrie Snyder, Lacey and Katie Laney, Cory and Kelsey Cook, Aubren Whatley, Corbin Cressley, Kaitlyn and Brandon Cressley, Patrick, Brody, Ian Clark, Nathaniel, Isaac, Caleb and Luke Fugate, Melissa Curtis, Christina, Kayla, Kyan, Payton and Madyson Pearce, Caden and Griffin Barrick, Frances, Eloise, Jack and Lucy Farmery, Landan and Paxton Temchulla and Easton Sprankle; and five great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Brady Snyder and Braylee, Mylee and Brantlee Cressley.

In addition to her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by a son, Merle "Bub" Cressley; a son-in-law, James Michael; a daughter-in-law, Beverly "Kay" Cressley; a grandson, Timothy Pearce; a granddaughter, Robin Curtis; and three brothers, Merle, Cloyd and Orin White.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Juneau with the Rev. Donald Brauer and the Rev. Cindy Duffee officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Rossiter.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Cressley's name to the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church.
