WINGATE — A pitchers' duel was ruined due to rain, as the Punxsy and Bald Eagle varsity softball teams were unable to complete a 1-1 game Tuesday afternoon.

With the contest tied at one through four innings, lightning paused the game before a downpour stopped the game. Punxsy manager Alan Pifer was unsure if the game will continue at a later date.

Punxsy senior Shawnna Crago pitched four innings and allowed one run on one hit with one walk and one strikeout. She also scored Punxsy's only run of the game.

Crago singled and stole second and third before she scored on Jenna Reitz's sacrifice fly to left field in the second inning.

Tia Davis also singled for Punxsy during the second inning, and Allie Shields drew a walk later in the game.

The Lady Eagles' only run came home when Taylor Parsons walked and scored on a two-out single by Kelly Chambers.

Cossondra Ross pitched all four innings for the Lady Eagles and gave up one run on two hits with one walk and zero strikeouts.

Bald Eagle (7-1) was on a three-game winning streak entering the game. One of its recent wins was a 9-0 victory over Punxsy's District IX Class AAA rival, Clearfield.

The Lady Chucks (5-0) hope to play at 4:15 p.m. today in Bradford if weather allows the game to occur. Punxsy's next home game is at 4:15 p.m. Friday against Curwensville.
