PUNXSUTAWNEY — The residents of a house on Pine Street in Punxsutawney barely escaped with their lives when their house was completely destroyed by a quickly spreading structure fire at 7:28 a.m. on Saturday.

Bryan Smith, Punxsutawney Fire Department chief, said when firefighters from Central, Lindsey and Elk Run arrived on scene at the home owned by Kimberly L. Stormer, 41, at 331 Pine St., it was fully involved with flames and heavy smoke showing.

Two residents were flown to UPMC for treatment, while three others were treated and released from Punxsutawney Area Hospital, according to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police.
