Two-vehicle incident leads to several injuries

There were several injuries in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 10:35 a.m. Monday on Route 36 in Young Township.

According to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, a 2003 Ford Focus ZX5 driven by Judith D. Jones, 44, Punxsutawney, was traveling south on Route 36, while a 2003 Ford Windstar driven by Jesse D. Scott, 32, Timblin was traveling north, when Jones allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the center line of the roadway and impacted the left side of Scott's vehicle.

Police said that after impact, the Focus traveled south approximately 375 feet before coming to rest facing south in the southbound lane of Route 36.

Scott's vehicle continued north 216 feet before coming to rest on the east berm of Route 36.

Jones and two passengers were transported by Jefferson County EMS to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Police were assisted by Lindsey Volunteer Fire Company, Punxsutawney Borough Police and Rebuck's South Side Service.

Scott suffered a minor injury and was not transported for treatment.
