Timothy Mark Heckman Sr., 52

September 27, 2011

Timothy Mark Heckman Sr., 52, Big Run, died Tuesday, Sept, 27, 2011, at home in the loving care of his children, who were by his side.

He was born Feb. 13, 1959, in Brookville, a son of the late Albert Charles and Constance Hope (Teats) Heckman.

He worked as a laborer, making windows at Thermal Gard in Punxsutawney for 25 years.

Mr. Heckman's true enjoyment was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a man of few words, but showed his love in his actions with his family. He also enjoyed his dogs, which were like children to him.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, spotting deer and being outdoors. He also liked fast cars and watching NASCAR.

Surviving relatives include two children, Timothy Mark Heckman Jr. and wife Colleen of Avondale, and Penny Detrie and husband Steven of Big Run; four grandchildren, Olivia Grace and Nicholas Mark Heckman, and Steven Brian Detrie Jr. and Kailee Marie Detrie; three brothers, John Heckman of Punxsutawney, David Bruce Heckman of Knox Dale, and Mike Heckman and wife Delanne of Waterford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Heckman; and two sisters, Brenda Meneely and Barbara Asbury.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Wolfe officiating.

Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Big Run.

The family requests no flowers, but prefers that memorial donations be made to the Big Run Beta Sorority, P.O. Box 215, Big Run, Pa. 15715, because of the kindness that the ladies' organization showed to Mr. Heckman and his family during his time of illness.
