Terri Ann Anthony, 43, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Newnan Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, Georgia, after suffering a brief illness.
She was born May 11, 1969, a daughter of Leroy and Betty Anthony, and the late M. Charlene Furl Anthony.
She graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1987.
Terri worked for many years as a lay midwife and delivered approximately 2,700 babies throughout Pennsylvania, Georgia and Alabama.
In Pennsylvania, Terri worked closely with the Amish community, tending to the needs of their expectant mothers and delivering their children.
Recently, she was also a loving caretaker of the elderly and special needs adults.
She was a free spirit.
She was absolutely unique in every way.
She loved nature and spending time outside.
You could usually find her kayaking, hiking, gardening, camping or cooking.
Her smile, laugh and her love for others, especially her family, are deeply ingrained in those who knew her.
Surviving relatives include two children, Ben Anthony and Jocelyn McConnaughey of Newnan, Ga.; a sister; Dawn Anthony Hein of Punxsutawney; nieces Lindsay and Alyssa Hein of Punxsutawney; and other family and friends, John Rieder of Grantville, Ga., David, Jason and Sarah Rieder of Newnan, Ga., Molly Hollis of Punxsutawney, and William Woodell of Newnan, Ga.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. in Punxsutawney.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct, 2, 2012, at the Punxsutawney First Church of God with Pastor Wayne Anderson officiating.
