Teresa L. Murphy Davis Depp, 81

Teresa L. Murphy Davis Depp, 81, of Belle Valley, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at her residence following a brief illness.

A resident of Erie most of her life and Punxsutawney for 10 years, she was born Nov. 9, 1929, in Newell Creek, a daughter of the late Clement Joseph and Edith (McChesney) Murphy.

She was married to her first husband of 42 years, Theodore Davis, who preceded her in death. She then married James H. Depp, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Depp worked in office personnel at the K-Mart in the Grandview Plaza for 11 years before retiring in 1991. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and was the first Millcreek crossing guard at Grandview Boulevard and Pine Avenue for Our Lady of Mount Carmel school.

She enjoyed quilting and helping her husband in their ceramic shop.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Edith T. McGuire and husband J. Voss of Onalaska, Wash., Shawna L. Jones and husband James of Erie, and Bridget D. Miller and husband Gary of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two step-sons, David Depp and wife Pam of Punxsutawney, and Edward Depp and wife Nancy of Mahaffey; a step-daughter, Mary Jo Depp-Nestlerode and husband Daniel of State College; a sister, Kathleen Underwood and husband Robert of Willoughby, Ohio, and North Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Leo Murphy and wife Maxine of Quinlan, Texas; a special daughter-in-law, Sherry Swanson of Erie; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Loren Jake Davis and Jay Kelly Davis; two grandsons, Martin J. Thompson and Ryan D. Thompson; seven brothers, Clement Joseph Murphy Jr., and James, Merle, Harold, Lawrence, Delbert and Charles Murphy; and three sisters, Isabelle Shook, Cecelia Field and Clara Johnston.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Saint’s Cemetery at Washington Valley.
