WINGATE — The Punxsy Chucks basketball team traveled to Bald Eagle High School Tuesday night for an out-of-league contest and picked up a 72-63 road win to improve their record to 12-4 this season.

Punxsy head coach Dirk Neal was pleased with his team's performance, as he said the entire team contributed to the win.

"It was just a great win," he said. "We controlled the boards, and the big guys took over. We have players just coming in off the bench and giving their all when they're in there. Individual guys had big games, and all the pieces of the puzzle are really falling together."

One individual whose performance stood out was senior forward/center Luke Janocha, who notched a double-double with 15 points to go with his 12 rebounds.

Punxsy actually trailed 15-14 after the first quarter of the game, but the Chucks never gave up and outscored Bald Eagle 17-12 in the second quarter to take a four-point lead into halftime.

The teams were even in the third quarter, with each scoring 21 points, but Punxsy again outscored the Bald Eagles 20-15 in the final quarter to pull away for the 72-63 win.

Punxsy's Brandon Man- cuso was the game's highest scorer with 22 points, including four threes, and senior Daniel Triponey put up 17 points despite Bald Eagle's attempt to shut him down.

Neal was impressed with his guards' play on the road.

"Brandon Mancuso shot the ball very well tonight, and we always lay a ton on Daniel's shoulders," Neal said. "They both came through for us tonight."

Up next, Punxsy travels to Elk County Friday night for another league game.

Punxsy's last league game was a victory over the visiting Beavers last Friday in Punxsutawney, and Neal hopes his team can continue to ride the momentum its building.

"We just have to be ready every game this time of the year, especially down the stretch," he said. "ECC plays good defense, and we have to be ready to handle that and handle their crowd. We need to play the way we've been playing, keep running our sets and just play hard."

In the JV game, Punxsy's squad remained perfect on the season with a 58-42 win over Bald Eagle.

Punxsy's balanced scoring attack was led by three players in double digits.

Tyler Young led the way with 16, Cory Geer followed with 12, and Matt Burkett scored 10.

All of Punxsy's players recorded points, with Michael Klingensmith (7), Devin Nicholson (6), Clayton Dale (4) and Will Curtis (3) rounding out the scoring.

Tony Riley and Jeffery Bennett led the way for Bald Eagle with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
