STILL DOING PUNXSY PROUD

March 16, 2012

(Top photo) 2011 PAHS grad Kody Young (right) recently participated in the NCAA Division II Wrestling National Championships March 9-10 in Pueblo, Co. With a first-round pin at the championships, Young scored his 17th victory by fall, placing him in a tie with St. Cloud's Tad Merritt for the 2011-12 Division II Most Falls award. Young went 1-2 at the national tournament to complete his freshman campaign with a 33-13 overall record, setting a Mercyhurst record for single-season wins by a freshman. (Bottom photo) Steven Cressley (right), a 2008 graduate of PAHS and a red shirt junior at Clarion University, took part last weekend in the NCAA Division I Wrestling National Championships in St. Louis — wrestling's largest stage at the collegiate level — where he lost a pair of tough matches. Cressley fell to the No. 5 seed, Minnesota's Kevin Steinhaus, in the opening round of the 184-pound class. In the wrestle backs, Cressley lost a tight 4-3 decision to Michigan State's Ian Hinton.
